Recently retired as an architect, Jeff Gaard continues his lifetime passion of exploring Wisconsin’s hills and valleys by bicycle. Related to cycling, the name of this blog certainly has literal meaning; more importantly, though, it has metaphorical resonance for the uncertainties of life itself. Blessed to be able to ride the Driftless Area for over 40 years (and counting!), the goal in retirement will be to keep the rubber-side down, ride the big ring as much as possible, and bunny hop the inevitable obstacles along the bike trail of life. This blog is an attempt to document some of those stories. As always, I will continue searching for unexplored routes and riding “a few more miles”.
